Suffolk Anthology Book Signing

SUFFOLK ANTHme suffolk

Had a nice afternoon at the Suffolk Anthology signing books and meeting people, it was very nice of Helene to invite me along to her lovely little book store at the Suffolk’s in Cheltenham.

I would definitely recommend visiting them and having a mooch around the many books they have on the shelves.

BOOK REVIEW: MY TEACHER’S A ROBOT! BY PHIL BARNES

Book Review: My Teacher’s a Robot! by Phil Barnes A Mum Reviews

Book Review: My Teacher’s a Robot! by Phil Barnes

This is the first book by new children’s book author Phil Barnes. Kids love it so it looks like there will be a series about strange teachers expanding soon.

“With wide, cold eyes, a clenched jaw, and superhuman strength, something’s not right about new teacher Miss Ironside. Will quickly realises… she’s a robot! One by one, his classmates are being brainwashed after school. Will and his friends must act fast to save everyone before it’s too late!”

My test reader for this book is a 9-year-old boy and he read the 63 pages long book quickly during a weekend. He said it was it was very enjoyable and exciting! The book is apparently full of tension and emotion and keeps kids hooked throughout. I like the short length that lets kids focus on reading one book in a short amount of time which is extra important when it’s an exciting story like this one where you’ll be wondering what will happen next if you don’t read it quickly enough! I would recommend it to boys and girls between 7 and 10 years old.

My Teacher’s a Robot! was published on the 30th of September 2015 by Austin Macauley Publishers and is available to buy from Amazon.co.uk.

Goodreads Giveaway

Great response to the Goodreads Giveaway, over 1,100 people entered and the three lucky winners have now had their signed copies posted to them, all three live in America and with the book released in America today – 30th March 2016 – that tied in very handily…

Thanks to the lovely people at Goodreads for helping and Austin Macauley for providing the books.

What a start to Author life..

What a first few months it has been, My Teacher’s a Robot! was released on 30th September and is gathering momentum, its amazing that My Teacher’s a Spy !! is now in production and will be out later this year. My family, my work colleagues and Austin Macauley have been very supportive in every step, I thank them all.

The school visits are going well, I have already visited Harewood Juniors, Beech Green Primary ,Coney Hill Primary, Elmbridge Junior School, Heron Primary, Abbeymead Primary Academy, Robinswood Primary and Hardwicke Parocial School, the children love to hear me read from My Teacher’s a Robot! and they ask some great questions and some funny ones….

Must be off, after a day at work and being a part time author I’m tired and need to unwind, but effort put in will hopefully turn in to success !

Eventually I have found time to add to my blog but I can’t complain as it’s been so busy, with World Book Day I visited four schools in two weeks and still have more to come, recent visits were great especially at Heron Primary where a young lady dressed as Miss Ironside…how proud was I. They loved my visit and really embraced the occasion.

I love to give something back to schools as it’s important to inspire the children to get them reading and writing.

My Teacher’s a Spy !! is well under way and will be here before I know it, feeling happy and content with life, can’t wait to be able to write full time as I have so many idea’s, soon hopefully….
